インドの八月と九月は雨期ですが、今年は雨量が多く、ガンジス河下流に設置している水門調整が未熟で各地でひどい水浸し被害が出ています。我が校の周辺も水浸しとなり、生徒の家も甚大な被害を受けており、急な夜間の増水でほとんど着の身着のままで逃げ出しました。もともと困窮しているカースト外の貧困農民達にわずかでも救援が図れないかと考えています。先生達も生徒の保護者から被害の聞き取りをしています。
August and September are the rainy season in India, but this year the amount of rain has been heavy, and the sluice gates installed downstream of the Ganges River have not been properly adjusted, causing severe flooding in many areas. The area around our school has also been flooded, and students’ homes have suffered extensive damage. The sudden rise in water overnight forced them to flee with barely the clothes on their backs. We are hoping to provide even a little relief to the poor, non-caste farmers who are already struggling. Teachers are also interviewing students’ parents about the damage.20250827-0906
